Heather's House

Another weekend gone, and it was a productive and fun one! Matt's sister Heather was in desperate need of roof repair and new shingles after her house was hit by lightning earlier this year, so this past weekend the troops were finally able to make schedules work and get the job done. The hard workers were: Matt, his brothers Sean and Joel, Matt's dad, Sean's brother-in-law Nate, and Megan's fiance Mathew. They were also able to put in an egress window for her, too! Matt left early on Friday morning and I left a little later with the kids in tow. We arrived in Milaca and were greeted with a tasty chili lunch. Friday night we dined on homemade pizza, a Sahlstrom family tradition, and we also celebrated Matt's mom's birthday with lots of cake and some singing, too! The boys were up early again on Saturday morning ready to get back to work. Meanwhile, Matt's dad took Bennett and his cousins out to the garden to pick carrots, and boy-oh-boy was this a great activity for them! They came back all excited with two big pails full. They just had to sample a few of them right away. The kids had fun playing away and spending time with each other, and the hard workers were able to complete Heather's projects by late Saturday afternoon. Matt's dad had promised Bennett a tractor ride, so even though it was getting dark on Saturday, he went over and got the tractor and took Bennett out for a little drive. We ate a quick supper, got Bennett and Emma into their cozy pj's, and headed back to the Cities. The time in Milaca flew, but we'll be back soon for a festive Thanksgiving!
