Emma was discharged from her helmet this morning, and we are thrilled! We had an inkling this was coming as her head growth plateauted several weeks ago and the orthotist we were working with didn't think we were going to see much more change if she stayed in it any longer. It was made official this morning by our wonderful orthotist and another expert at Children's who examined and measured her little head and said she was done. Our orthotist also scanned her head as they did when she was fitted for her helmet five months ago, and this is a really neat way to see the changes that were made by having Emma wear the helmet. We are very happy with the final result, and so grateful that her brachycephaly was able to be corrected. No more helmet hair! I have a drawer full of hats, barrettes, clips, bows and headbands waiting to be used. Hip, hip, hooray!
