Emma is One YEAR Old!

Emma's first birthday has come and gone, and I'm still sitting here in disbelief.  The past year has been a whirlwind of amazing, challenging, fun, precious and very special times and we are incredibly blessed to have Emma as our daughter.  We spent her actual birthday here at home after Matt and Little Miss made a visit to the pediatrician on Saturday morning.  Emma has had what we thought was a yucky cold for going on four weeks, and Friday night we noticed that her right eye was bloodshot.  It didn't seem to be bothering her, but we decided that if it was still red when she woke up on Saturday morning, she would need to go in.  So off to the doctor's office Daddy and Daughter went on Saturday morning.  The doctor thinks our sweet girl has seasonal allergies, so he said to give Claritin Children's a try, and I'm happy to report that after three days of allergy medicine, Emma is doing much better!
After Matt brought Emma home, we spent the day playing, enjoyed a yummy pizza dinner in the evening, and topped it all off with a big old chocolate cupcake.  We remember Bennett being very hesitant about touching frosting and cake, but our girl just dug right in.  She absolutely loved it!  We tucked the kids in and Matt and I began preparations for Emma's party the next day.
We had both sides of the family over on Sunday for Emma's first shindig, and it was a blast!  Emma was in great spirits, which we were very thankful for.  She received many gifts, said "hi" several times to everyone, and put on a great show when destroying her very own owl cake that Matt made for her to smash.
We love our SWEET PEA so very, very much.  Happy first birthday, Emma!
